We spoke with Claire prior to her session and wanted to know, what is your style? What do you want from this session? Her answer was “I have a New York chic style”, we were thrilled to hear all about it and see it come into fruition. She started the session off with a 3/4 velvet floral blouse and ripped jeans, setting the scene for this urban chic senior session.
We headed over to a grungy area that brought out that inner New Yorker vibe that Claire loves. We paired black and white imagery to boost an edgy look alongside the brick and street feel to the look. Claire added a hat for some variation and we loved!
Seniors can add all kinds of accessories to enhance their portraits and we are all about expressing your individuality at our studio. Ask them to bring jackets, jewelry, hats, boots, shoes, heels etc. I always ask them to bring 5-8 complete outfits with accessories so that they really have a great variety of items to choose from in the session. If your child plays sports, bring ball, glove, jersey etc.
A lot of people want to know, what looks good in photos? Well I will start by saying that solids are always a good start, layering scarves or a cardigan over your outfit, jeans with boots etc. always look good on a girl. Boys look good with flannels, sweaters, polos, jacket and jeans with nice shoes. I always say to look at Abercrombie and Fitch or American Eagle Outfitters for some style options that will look amazing. Seniors don’t always have to dress up either, we want them to look nice but to also embrace who they are as well.
When thinking about what you want your senior portrait session to be, think about all of the little things that can add so much to your images. That is what your senior photos should be about…..YOU.
